John Carpenter's THE THING

AMC Horror Channel were showing the classic film THE THING and wanted a image for their social media channels to promote it. This gave me a chance to indulge in my love of all things 80s and so I modelled a Kenner style action figure of R.J. MacReady using Blender.

Kenner put out all sorts of cool toys for kids back then, licenses that when I think about it made no sense due to the violent or gory nature of the brand, Aliens, Terminator, Robocop, Predator, so this seemed ideal for this project.

Designing the box art was the most fun, it really tied the whole piece together, a couple of people have asked if this was a actual toy that was released back then which made my day.

All in all this was a lot of fun and quite the learning experience, I look forward to doing more work in Blender.
